1. Pigsty by Mark Teague
In Pigsty by Mark Teague, Wendell Fultz’s room is a mess! When his mother pronounces his room a “pigsty” and sends him upstairs to clean it, Wendell finds a large pig lounging on the bed. Wendell doesn’t seem to mind. Instead, he rearranges the mess and joins in the fun. His mother gives up, and for the next week, Wendell happily spends his time with his new friends. Wendell and the pigs enjoy having pillow fights and playing Monopoly together.
Soon after, a second pair of pigs shows up and the four of them add to the mess in Wendell’s room. The pigs even start ruining Wendell’s toys, and he has to admit that the mess is getting to be too much. Wendell has the pigs help him clean his room and they move out.

2. Olivia by Ian Falconer
Olivia by Ian Falconer is about a pig named Olivia who wakes up every day, ready to go! She gets out of bed, combs her ears, moves the cat, and brushes her teeth. She lives with her mom, dad, and brother, Ian.
This story allows readers to get a glimpse into the life of Olivia. We see that she is active, wearing out her mother and all those around her! She goes to the beach where she builds a sandcastle. She also goes to a museum which inspires her to paint her own piece of art!
The story ends with her mother snuggling her at night, reminding Olivia that although she may wear her out, she loves her. Students will be able to make connections to Olivia as they read about her daily adventures!

3. The True Story of The Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka
In the story The True Story of The Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, the wolf sets out to tell his version of what really happened the day he blew all the houses down. The wolf claims that he is completely misunderstood. The wolf was just making his granny a birthday cake when he realized he did not have enough sugar. He went to ask his neighbors, the three pigs, to borrow a cup of sugar.
When the wolf gets to the first house, he sneezes and the house falls down. He finds the pig inside, already dead, and decides to eat him. He goes to the second house, and the same thing happens again. The wolf finally gets to the third house and becomes extremely aggravated because the pig is rude to him. He tries to knock down the pig’s door and causes a big scene. That is when the reporters show up and why the wolf looks so bad and is where the original story came from.
