1. Make it a Routine
Consider making a color by code activity part of your routine. One idea is to assign a color by code worksheet as morning work every Monday or on the morning of holiday. Students thrive with routines. They’ll know what’s expected of them and will be able to complete the activities independently. That means more time learning and less off-task behaviors.
2. Model How to Complete a Color by Code Worksheet
When you start using color by code activities in your classroom, take the time to introduce the activity and model how to complete it. Explicitly teach problem solving strategies and expected behavior. This time that you invest in teaching how to complete the activity as well as the expectations will have your future self thanking you.
