Is This Your Class Pet? by Troy Cummings is about how Arfy visits the local school to read books with students in the library. He wears a helper dog vest and loves his job. On his way back home, Arfy notices a turtle is in the pocket of his vest. He realizes this must be somebody’s class pet. Arfy sets off to find the owner of the turtle and help her get back to her home.

How to Catch a Class Pet by Alice Walstead is about a group of kids who are so excited for their new school year to start! They heard that all of the classrooms in their new grade have a class pet. When they get to class, they are surprised that all the class pets are missing! The kids decide to all work together and make traps to catch the class pets!

When it is finally time for recess the kids go outside with their traps and try their hardest to catch the pets. When recess is over, they are surprised to find that all the class pets are back in their class! Every class pet is there, except the sneaky dragon.

Hamsters Make Terrible Roommates by Cheryl B. Klein is a book about two hamsters, Henry and Marvin. Henry is very irritated by Marvin because all Marvin wants to do is talk and be excited and that really bothers Henry. Henry likes it better when it is quiet and peaceful. One day Henry snaps at Marvin and tells him he needs to leave him alone. Marvin communicates why he likes talking and Henry communicates why he likes it quiet. The two hamsters are able to compromise and start over as good friends.

4. We Don’t Lose Our Class Goldfish by Ryan T. Higgins

In We Don’t Lose Our Class Goldfish by Ryan T. Higgins, Penelope is afraid of her class pet Walter. When her teacher announces that everyone will get a turn taking Walter home for the weekend, Penelope gets very nervous. When it is finally time to take Walter home, Penelope is very nervous. He scares her when she tries to go to sleep so she decides to put him in a box in the kitchen.

Penelope is shocked to wake up the next morning and find that Walter is missing. She looks all over the place trying to find him until she eventually finds him with her dad. He was about to take Walter to the donation center because he thought he was a lamp.

When Walter was missing, Penelope realized that he wasn’t that scary after all and she actually missed him. She learned an important lesson about responsibility.
