How to Store Bulletin Board Letters in the Classroom

Are you wondering how to save time in the classroom? Do you want to know how to store bulletin board letters? This classroom organization idea will be helpful to elementary teachers.

Coming up with bulletin board ideas for school can be a challenge. What’s even more challenging is finding the time to create bulletin boards.

One tip I always share with teachers when I am consulting with them on how to set up their classrooms for the new year is to create bulletin boards that can last all year long. There are boards you’ll want up throughout the year such as a math rotation board for guided math lessons, a student work display board, a word wall, etc.

Another way to save time is to use a classroom theme or a classroom color scheme which allows you to change out the student work throughout the year without needing to modify the backgrounds and borders.

I always set up my classroom so that the boards inside my room remained constant throughout the year. I reserved the hallway board for displaying seasonal activities. These included:

  • A Welcome Board for Back to School followed by Bad Case of The Stripes in September
  • Haunted House for Sale Projects in October
  • Turkeys in Disguise in November
  • Gingerbread Activities in December
  • Snowmen at Night and Penguins in January
  • Biography Projects in February
  • Fractions and Geometry Projects in March
  • Plants Activities in April
  • Free Choice Writing Display in May
  • End of the Year Projects in June

To save time and increase classroom organization this idea for storing bulletin board letters is the perfect solution. Just slide the letters in the sleeve which is the perfect size for most store-bought letters.

I suggest storing them in one of two ways:

1. Place all of the same letters together.

2. When you take down a bulletin board at the end of the month (or at the end of the school year if you need to strip your classroom down for the summer) store all of the letters for that board together in on compartment.
